Then I made a ten-stitch smaller version for my daughter by removing a couple repeating stitches of the pattern. I also made the diamond go farther down the toe, but it was a pain to be doing pattern and decreasing at the same time, so I’ll probably not try that again.

I have actually ventured into knitted patterned socks.  Because I like knitting lace, I had to try these from a book by Nancy Bush, Knitting on the Road.

First I followed the pattern for myself, my only adaptation to make it a little shorter.
