I learned to knit socks at Sheep Street Fibers (it was in Morgantown, IN when I learned; now it is on a farm in Martinsville). This was before Lafayette had its own local yarn shop. I drove two hours to visit this one, found a quilt shop next door, Ady’s, and Auntie M’s tea room down the street. The three shops together made for many an excursion to Morgantown.
I had some friends who talked about how nice hand knitted socks were, so when I saw a series of classes offered, decided to try. They taught a very basic pattern that can be adjusted to any foot. I have since experimented with other heels and toes and with toe up construction. But I keep coming back to this one.
